The University of Dayton Men’s Basketball Program is one of the most successful college basketball teams, on and off the court, in
NCAA history. The program has been among the country’s best at drawing fans and hosting NCAA games since it was established. Dayton first appeared in the NIT in 1951, when the Flyers were runners-up. The Flyers have played in the NCAA tournament many times and have made several appearances in the Sweet Sixteen. UD Arena has become the NCAA tournament’s most frequent home hosting over 117 tournament games – the most of any building in the tournament’s history. In the community, the Flyers are the inspiration for one of the best fan bases in college basketball. The Flyers are noted for their fan base, The Flyer Faithful. The Flyers are routinely in the top 30 average game attendance among all NCAA Division I programs.
