Cathy Guisewite

1950 –

Cathy was a pioneer for women in the field of cartoons. She launched the comic strip Cathy in 1976, in 66 newspapers, and quickly became a voice for women of her generation. By the mid-1990s the strip ran internationally in 1,400 newspapers and ran for 34 years until 2010. She received the National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award for Cartoonist of the Year in 1992, and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Animated Program in 1987, and many other awards.
