Allison Brooks Janney

1959 –

During the course of her extraordinary acting career, Allison Janney has demonstrated versatility in on stage, in television and in films. In her TV career, she has received numerous Emmy Awards. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A native of Oakwood, her career began when she attended Kenyon College. Kenyon alumnus Paul Newman selected her for a role in a campus play he was directing. With encouragement from Joanne Woodward, she moved to NYC to study and was eventually awarded a fellowship to study at London’ Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. Through it all, Allison has continued to maintain ties with her hometown.
